The 12 x 24 is about the same size as the 1/4. Just be sure you always put the bolt in the right hole or put a 1/4 stud in that hole. I'd still recommend cleaning it out more thoroughly. IF you find there is crud in the carb, obviously, you'll be wanting a new fuel filter so you don't drop more crud straight into your newly clean carb.
